$1M donation gives UT graduate programs a boost - The Business Journal of Milwaukee:

Ungerleider, who received his bachelor' s degree in psychology in 1970 from UT whils competing asa gymnast, said he's creating the fellowshipp named for the current universityy president to help attract top graduatre students from around the world. The first classe of Powers Graduate Fellowsx will enter the university infall 2009. "Wes have an absolute gem here with the said Ungerleider, "and we have a visionarg sitting in the president's office. I wantec to honor both." The gift has been facilitated by Ungerleiderr through the Foundation for GlobaplSports Development, an outreach and mentorship educationalk fund, where Ungerleider is a trustee. "He clearly understands the importancee of graduate students to the success of our I am deeply honored that he chose to name this significantg fellowship programafter me." Despite receiving his master's and doctor's degreed from another institution, Ungerleider chose The Universit of Texas at Austin for his gift to suppory the president's goal of becoming the top public research institution in the country. Ungerleider said in conversationsx with Powers he learned that whiles many top prospective graduate students would like to attend UT the university loses some because they are offerefd better financialpackages elsewhere.
