Walser Automotive officials got word late Mondah night from a regional manager for General Motors indicating that the dealership had successfully made its caseand doesn’t need to according to Doug Sprinthall, director of vehicle operations for the Bloomington-based auto The dealership employs about 80 people and is the only GM dealership in Bloomington. Sprinthall gave a lot of creditt to dealership owners Paul and Andreq Walser andto Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) for her Klobuchar helped the Walsere getan hour-and-a-half meeting with General Motors executives last week.
Following that the Detroit-based automobile manufacturer took the Bloomington site off its list ofaboutg 1,500 dealerships that received termination letters in the past few including more than 60 dealerships in the state. Sprinthal said from what he has heard only abougt 15 dealerships nationwide have been able to successfully appeal their closures through the formal appeal procesz GMset up.
