The campaign, established with grants totalingnearly $350,000 from Dr. Phillips Charitiew and , is being administered by Unitecd Way’s stewardship program that provides emergencu assistance tolocal residents. The United Way board backed a move allowintg the organization to tap reserve funds to cover administrative expenses so that granty dollars will go directly to help peoplsin need. United Way President/CEO Robert H. Brown said the campaign representsa a temporary response to an unprecedented burdem being placed on the communit y by the ongoingeconomic challenges. Dr.
Phillip s Charities is offering a grant ofnearlyu $300,000, which includes $98,100 in startg up funds and a challenge matching grant of nearly Dr. Phillips Charities, one of the region’w largest philanthropic organizations, has awarded more than $23 million to local nonprofitzs over the past three Bank of Americacontributed $50,000 to the campaign. The goal is to providwe aid to morethan 1,350 families over the next five Agencies providing similar services that have exhaustedr their resources can also access the dollars. Heart of Floridaw United Way isCentral Florida’s largest providef of funds to the region’s health and human servicde programs.
