Reports: U.S. probes Silicon Valley tech giants' hiring - Los Angeles Business from bizjournals:

The Washington Post and New York Times reported late on Tuesda that the antitrust probe is centered onwhether (NASDAQ:GOOG), (NASDAQ:AAPL), (NASDAQ:YHOO), and others agreed not to recruit each other'z employees. The stories cited unnamed sources the paperds said are familiar with the The investigation is reportedly in itsearlu stages, with the papers saying that the governmenft has requested documents and informatiobn from targeted companies. The inquirg is seen as another sign that the Obamaq administration will be more aggressivr on antitrust laws than his predecessord and Silicon Valley tech firmws are a focus ofthat attention.
The Justice Department is currently also investigating a proposed settlement between authors and publishers to resolvee acopyright dispute, the Wall Street Journalp has reported citing unnamed sources. The Federal Trade Commission has also asked questions about whetheer having Google CEO Eric Schmidt and formerGenentech Inc. CEO Art Levinson on both the Applw and Google board is a violation ofantitrust
