She stressed that it wouls be an “inclusive” plan that is meant to bettef define SUNY’s role in New York state’d economy. “It’s very important to me that we havea well-articulated visiomn of our future,” Zimpher said. “Wse need an audacious goal forthat future, so that we can be partner with the state of New She said the strategic plan will be “action-oriented.” “It’s all about what you can get done,” she said.
“We are going to get things done and we will holdourselvew accountable.” Zimpher takes the helm at a precariousz time in New York state. The 2009-10o budget crisis cut state fundinh at severalSUNY institutions, state Senate lawmaker are locked in a partisan battle and UB wants to pass a bill that will essentiallyg reduce SUNY’s role in determining tuitio n rates and new construction plans. Toursz of other Western New York-area SUNY campusesz have not yetbeen announced.
